…weil sie jedes Spiel der Europameisterschaft live übertragen und die technischen Schwierigkeiten beim Türkei-Spiel wohl wirklich keine ESPN-internen Probleme waren, so wie ich das hier von euch mitbekommen habe.

Da ich natürlich viel zu aufgeregt bin so kurz vor dem morgigen Spiel, beschränke ich mich darauf ein paar Bilder zu posten. Abgesehen davon, besteht in Utah scheinbar jeder Ort nur aus 2 Hotels, einer Frittenbude und ner Tankstelle, also gibt es eh nicht wirklich was zu erzählen….

Ich kann euch nicht sagen, was mir mehr Spaß macht: Das Essen oder das Wandern. Ich kann euch ebenfalls nicht sagen, welches der beiden mehr an meinen Kräften zehrt. Ich bin jedenfalls sowas von zerstört, dass ein Nachmittagsschläfchen neuerdings definitiv zum Tagesbedarf gehört.

Deshalb gibt es heute auch zwei Fotoalben zu begutachten:

Das Erste widmet sich dem schönen wilden Westen, den wir nun tagtäglich erkunden. Die Fotos sind auf zwei verschiedenen Wanderungen im Zion Nationalpark entstanden. Die Wanderungen werden jedenfalls länger (erst 5 Meilen dann 8 Meilen) und der Schwierigkeitsgrad steigt (in der 2. Wanderung gab es Abschnitte, die auf einer Strecke von 1 Meile eine gefühlte Steigung von 25% hatten).

Und da wir grad bei der schönen Tierwelt hier in der Wüste sind: Alex und ich hatten heute besonderen Besuch in unserem Hotelzimmer: Eine monströse Kakerlake krabbelte quer durch den Raum. Heldenhaft, wie ich nun einmal bin, verließ ich sofort todesmutig das Zimmer (und näherte mich dabei dem gigantischen Ungetüm auf etwa 10cm), um Papa zu holen. An der Rezeption fand ich einen Motel-Katalog, den ich zum Totschläger umfunktionieren konnte. Doch das Vieh hatte Glück: Sidekick Papa war bereits draufgestiegen, Sonst wär’s dem Monster schlecht ergangen.

Fast genau so spannend verlief auch das heutige Abendessen. Wir waren im “Golden Coral” zu Gast, bei dem man für 9,95$ das Buffet nach herzenslust plündern konnte (All you can eat). Ihr könnt euch gar nicht vorstellen, was für eine riesige (!!!) Auswahl die dort anbieten. Um euch einen Einblick zu ermöglichen, habe ich mein Abendessen fotografiert. Der Vorspeisenteller (Salat) fehlt allerdings. Wir steigen also mit dem ersten Hauptgang (den ich schon halb aufgegessen habe) ein und vollenden mit einem Nachtisch, der mich nun zusammengekauert und mit geöffnetem Gürtel auf meinem Bett hinterlässt:

Ein Doppelzimmer ohne Klobürste im Bad ist benutzerunfreundlich.

Franzosen sind nicht immer unkommunikativ und sprechen sehr wohl englisch.

Hallo Heimat,

etwas unstolzer als zuvor kann ich verkünden, dass die Hure Babylon mich doch gefickt hat. Zwar habe ich gestern beim Poker nochmal 10$ gut gemacht, beim Black Jack hat es mich dann allerdings erwischt. 50$ verloren (also insgesamt an 3 Tagen 20$ verspielt), aber dafür “Anerkennung” von den Mitspielern am Tisch gefunden: “That was the strangest move I’ve ever seen, but it worked… so: Well played!”

Aber nicht nur am Tisch fordere ich mein Glück heraus: Auch das Anwachsen meiner Leibesfülle wird bis auf’s letzte getestet. Beispiele? Bitteschön:

Frühstück am Montag: 4 Chocolate Chip Pankaces mit Blueberry-Sirup und ein halbes Chicken Fajita Omelette.

Abendessen am Dienstag (heute): 1 Teller Salat (groß), 1 Chicken Noodle Soup, 2 Stuecke Pizza (groß), 2 Scheiben Wassermelone (klein), 4 Chicken Wings, 1 Soft Eis mit Nüssen garniert.

Das Experiment zieht bisher keine sichtbaren Folgen nach sich.

Was gibt’s sonst noch zu erzählen? Nicht wirklich viel. Die ersten Tage habe ich vorrangig zum Shoppen genutzt. Das Ergebnis davon bekommt ihr ja noch früh genug mit. Alles andere entnehmt ihr den Fotos, damit ihr auch einen kleinen Eindruck von Las Vegas bekommt, falls ihr den Strip noch nicht kennt. Die andere Hälfte des Strips wird am Ende des Urlaubs wohl noch nachgereicht, denn bisher hat die Zeit noch nicht gereicht die gesamte Straße abzulaufen, obwohl ich heute knapp 3 Stunden unterwegs war.

 

Morgen fahren wir nach Sankt George weiter, pünktlich zum Deutschlandspiel sollten wir ankommen. Von da an gibt es dann wohl “nur” Natur- und Poolfotos zu sehen.

Tony ist eigentlich ein ganz netter Kerl. Zwar inzwischen recht gut angesäuselt, aber irgendwie nett.

Ich treffe ihn im Kasino, er spielt am selben Tisch Black Jack wie Alex. Wir kommen schnell ins Gespräch, Fußball natürlich, denn wir haben beide das Spiel Spanien gegen Italien gesehen und mussten dafür nicht mal aufdringliche Stripperinnen aus dem Weg räumen. Tony’s Kumpel, dessen Namen ich schnell wieder vergesse, ist spanischer Herkunft und hält den Sieg gegen die Italiener für einen der glorreichsten der Fußballgeschichte. Ich wünsche ihm Glück, dass Spanien es ins Finale schafft, damit wir ihnen dort den Arsch versohlen können - Tony klopft mir auf die Schulter und lacht herzhaft. Dann erzählt er mir, dass er wirklich Tony heißt… “I’m not one of those fuckers that just say, that their name is Tony, and when you look in their passports it’s Anthony or Antonio…” Irgendwie mag er diese Namensdiebe nicht so recht und hält sie für “two-faced”. Seine Theorie: Leute, die sich den Namen Tony erschummeln sind zwiegespaltene Persönlichkeiten. “When they are Tony, they’re not themselves anymore, you know? Like an Alter Ego thing…” und dann machen sie Sachen die sie sich als Anthony nie trauen würden. Ich glaube “Hah” und “Ok” sind die Wörter, die ich an diesem Abend am häufigsten Gebrauche.

Beim Pokern läuft’s irgendwie besser als mit Tony: Stolz kann ich verkünden, dass ich die Hure Babylon in die Knie gezwungen habe: 20$ habe ich eingesetzt, mit 40$ verließ ich das Casino. Ich habe so das Gefühl die müssen den Laden bald dicht machen. Ich geh heut abend auf jeden Fall wieder zocken (wahrscheinlich Black Jack, da trifft man so nette Menschen) und lass diese doofen Kapitalistenschweine und Jamaica-Ausbeuter mal wissen wie es ist ausgenommen zu werden

Die Bullen haben wir auch schon kennengelernt: Scheinbar geht es uns Deutschen zu langsam zu in Amerika. Der geschätzte Officer weiß natürlich auch, woran das liegt: “I know you’ve got the Autobahn ‘n stuff, but try to obey our rules while you’re here.” Klaro machen wir. Der Kerl war zum Glück zu faul fuer Papierkram und hat uns kein Speedingticket gegeben. Da das ganze nach dem EM-Spiel war, weiß ich allerdings nicht was passiert wäre, hätte er uns nach unserem Alkoholkonsum gefragt.

nachdem hier schon Jubelarien ueber unsere geniale Managerliga hereingebrochen sind, hier nochmal der ofizielle Wortlaut des Kickers:

Höchstwert für “Höchster Honks”

Im Schnitt 85,6 Punkte erzielte die fünfköpfige Liga “Höchster Honks” von Gerald Schäfer aus Flörsheim und deklassierte damit die Ligenkonkurrenz. Erst mit knapp zehn Zählern Rückstand folgt der aus neun Teilnehmern bestehende Zusammenschluss “HennesVIII” (75,7) von Thorsten Kertz aus Elsdorf, Rang drei geht an die Familienliga “Die Brünings” (73,6) von Jan Brüning aus Oberhausen.

Soweit erstmal der Stand in der Heimat. Heute abend werde ich dann auch etwas mehr Zeit haben und euch von meinen bisherigen Abenteuern aus dem heissen (gestern waren’s bereits um 11 Uhr morgens 40 Grad Celsius) Las Vegas berichten.

Nachdem die Türken soeben das Elfmeterschießen gegen die Kroaten gewonnen haben, werde ich wohl nicht viel Schlaf vor meiner Abreise finden. Aber was soll’s: Eva hat ihr letztes Bier hier vergessen und wegen dem einen Schoppen mehr werde ich morgen schon nicht verschlafen. In knapp sieben Stunden it finally begins… Ich mag jetzt übrigens Serbien ganz gerne.

Nun denn, ich denke ich bin gut vorbereitet: CDs gebrannt, Passport im Rucksack und schnell nochmal rasiert, damit die lieben Amis mich auch wirklich reinlassen. (Allah u Akbar)
